Omnilane is a peer-to-peer cross-chain liquidity protocol that operates without the need for oracles, sidechains, or bridges. It allows users to swap tokens across different blockchains in a fully decentralized manner, without intermediaries. This results in a system that is significantly more capital-efficient and faster than traditional solutions.

Omnilane utilizes an intent-based (opens in a new tab) model, combined with decentralized MPC technology (opens in a new tab) built into the NEAR blockchain.

Cumulative State Consensus

The core functionality of Omnilane revolves around a propietary algorithm called Cumulative State Consensus. It works with users creating limit orders by depositing their origin assets into a Vault on the originating chain. These Vaults are monitored by liquidity providers, who can fulfill the order by releasing the corresponding funds on the destination chain. Afterward, they can claim the assets deposited in the Vault on the origin chain.

When a user creates a limit order, they must witness cumulative deposits of liquidity providers on the destination chain. This step is crucial to maintaining the trustless nature of the protocol. By verifying the liquidity provider's cumulative deposits, the user ensures that there are sufficient funds to fulfill the order. If the user submits an incorrect verification (witness) value, Omnilane cannot guarantee solvency, which could allow a liquidity provider to claim the origin assets without releasing the destination assets, undermining the integrity of the transaction.

Smart Contracts

Omnilane operates primarily through two types of smart contracts: Vaults and Core.

Vaults

Vaults are smart contracts deployed on each blockchain supported by Omnilane. The system can even support blockchains that don't have native smart contract functionality, such as Bitcoin. Vaults are used to accept token deposits from liquidity providers and process new limit orders from users wanting to swap tokens. They also handle withdrawals for liquidity providers and allow users to claim tokens after a swap, but this process requires a signature verification from the central Core contract.

As an integrator, your applications will require interacting with the Vaults for depositing funds to create new orders and for cancelling orders.

You can opt not to interact with the Vaults to release funds on the destination chain by using the Relayer service. However, if your integration requires more control, you can interact with the Vaults directly. Find more information on the Vaults page.

Core

The Core contract is Omnilane’s central contract, deployed on the NEAR blockchain. It acts as the settlement layer and ledger for users interacting with Omnilane. NEAR was chosen for its low transaction costs, high speed and the flexibility of their VM.

The Core contract also enforces protocol fees, which are detailed on the Fee Structure page.

As an integrator, you can opt not to interact with the Core by using the Relayer service. However, if your integration requires more control, you can interact with the Core directly. Find more information on the Core page.

Broker

All information related to Omnilane is public and decentralized. However, to streamline the integration process, Omnilane provides a public broker service that offers market data and connects users with the liquidity layer, providing reference prices and more. We encourage integrators to validate the data provided by the broker independently.

Relayers

Any user can send transactions directly to the Omnilane protocol. This option is useful for developers who want faster integrations, prioritize their transactions, or customize transaction logic within their applications.

For applications where this level of control is not critical, Omnilane offers a relayer service that handles transaction submissions on both the NEAR blockchain and the destination blockchains.

Relayers operate across all blockchains supported by Omnilane.
